Twitter add Charity Fundraising Option

I just discovered, on another blog, that Twitter has added a feature where you can raise money for Charities. As anyone who knows me knows, my pet project is the Progeria Research Foundation. This disease, Progeria, is a rare disorder that causes premature aging in children. They usually don’t live past their 12th birthday. Anyway, I have applied for the Progeria Research Foundation to be a featured charity on Twitter’s charity site. I hope we are approved and that you will all consider supporting us. Also you can join our cause on FaceBook. If you enjoyed the movie ‘The curious case of Benjamin Button’ you might find this disorder very interesting.

Fondue for New Year's Eve

I'm no critic, but I think the best New Year's Eve is to sit around with family and have fondue. We have both cheese and chocolate and serve those with a variety of extras including hard salami and air dried ham, and of course, bread--really fresh bread.

This year there will be a couple of guests joining us and we probably will poop out before the Ball drops in NYC, but we will give it our best shot. Hope you have a wonderful New Year.  My basic fondue favorite is as follows:

1/2 pound swiss
1/2 pound gruyere
1 cup dry white wine
2 tablespoons flour to dust on shredded cheese
clove garlic

Shred the cheeses, toss with flour. Rub down fondue pot with clove of garlic. Heat wine in fondue pot, seasoned with garlic. Drop in handfuls of cheese until it is all smooth and creamy. Eat with bread and meats plus little hot pickles.  Enjoy

Paper Clips

I'm no critic, but, I just saw the movie "Paper Clips" about a group of students, who over several years, gathered enough paper clips from around the world to represent each and every jew and other 'undesirable' murdered during the Nazi holocaust.

It was great. I didn't realize that the Norwegian people wore paper clips on their collars, during the years around WWII, to silently protest the treatment of the Jews and others by Adolph Hitler.

If you haven't seen this movie, you should. It is available through Netflix and it is one of the instant play movies.
